What Brought Danny to The Home Depot?
In 1998, Danny joined The Home Depot as a Sales Associate, working in the Garden department. “I’ve been a gardener all my life,” he shares. That lifelong passion is what brought him through our doors. Before joining the company, he managed a mom-and-pop garden center and ran a small landscaping service on the side. He was looking for a break from the physical strain of landscaping.
“I had no intention of staying very long,” Danny recalls. But something clicked. Danny thrived in the store atmosphere and loved to help customers find solutions for their projects. With his gardening background, his expertise didn’t go unnoticed. “I was quickly dubbed the garden expert,” he says.
How Did Danny’s Career Grow at The Home Depot?
After working in several stores along the Gulf Coast, Danny moved to Atlanta in 2012. While he continued working in the Garden department, he landed a Home Depot TV commercial and began appearing regularly in radio and television segments.
In 2022, Danny made the move from the store to the Store Support Center, our corporate office.
How Did Danny Transition From the Store to The Home Depot Foundation?
Danny accepted a new role as a Sr. Specialist supporting The Home Depot Foundation, a nonprofit supported by The Home Depot. At first, he missed the daily interactions with customers in the Garden Center, but he soon realized that the heart of his work and the company culture hadn’t changed. “On the Foundation team, I work closely with nonprofits and members of the community,” Danny shares. “I continue to support people, but in a new way.”
The skills he built in the stores were valuable for his new role.
In the Garden Department, I learned how to build strong relationships with our customers, vendors, and the community, that has proved to be a vital part of what we do at the Foundation.

What Does Danny Do at The Home Depot Foundation?
Danny helps plan and execute projects for Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force. Each project brings associate volunteers together to give back through hands-on service. Every year, Team Depot works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, support communities recovering from natural disasters, and address other needs in the local communities where our associates live and work.
Danny’s favorite part of the job is seeing the impact Team Depot projects have on the people and communities they support. “I feel fortunate to have a job where I can make a difference in the lives of so many,” he shares. That sense of purpose shapes the advice he offers fellow associates: “Get involved with what’s right around you,” he recommends. “And whatever path you take, be the best.”
